Privacy Policy & Cookie Policy

1. About us and our handling of your data

Harris Interactive AG, headquartered in Hamburg ("Harris Interactive", "we, our") is responsible for the processing of personal data within the framework of the consumer panel (the "Panel"). We process the personal data concerning you that you provide to us when you register for the panel ("registration data") with your consent. In addition, we will inform you here about data, including personal data, that we collect and process in the background when you use our "registration page" hi-epanel.com and complete the "registration survey" about the Panel. After your registration, we will ask you again for your consent to the processing of personal data that we process as part of your participation in the Panel.

Since your trust in us comes first, we will do everything we can to maintain it. As a company based in Germany, we comply with German and European data protection regulations. As a market research company, we store your registration data separately from data that we collect in the course of your participation in the panel. We report the results of our market research to our clients in a form that does not allow individual participants to be personally identified.

2. Personal data that we collect from you and process with your consent

We request the following login data from you, which is personal data relating to you: First and last name, place of residence, date of birth, e-mail address.
Furthermore, we automatically assign you a registration number (a "pseudonym") when you register.
We use your login data to check whether you are already registered in the panel. In particular, we use your e-mail address to send you a confirmation e-mail (double opt-in) after sending the form.
As part of the registration process, you provide us with your identity and contact information, and by participating in surveys, we collect certain other information about you. This includes demographic and profile data, technical data and pseudonymised data.
Your identity and contact information will be used for the following purposes:

  • To contact you regarding your HI-epanel membership.
  • To send the rewards: If you earn bonus points ("E-Points") by participating in surveys, the points will be credited to your account. If you wish to redeem the points, we will use your identity and contact information to send you your rewards.
  • To send invitations to participate in surveys: To ask if you are interested in participating in upcoming surveys.
We also use your demographics and profile information to find the right surveys for you and to see if you qualify for specific surveys.

3. How it works

When login to the login page (hi-epanel.com):
After sending this form you will receive an e-mail from us. Please click on the link in this e-mail. This will take you to an online questionnaire.

4. To whom do we pass on your personal data?

Information that we collect from you through our surveys is only passed on to our customers in collected or pseudonymised form. This means that information is shared about groups, not individuals. This information may contain pseudonymised data.

Identity or contact information about you will only be shared with customers for research purposes as part of specific surveys, and we will never share such information without first obtaining your consent and without confirming that customers are using the information in accordance with applicable laws.

4.1 Duration of storage of your personal data

We store your personal data only as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purposes of the collection. This includes the fulfilment of legal, accounting and reporting obligations.

To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the personal data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process the personal data and whether we can achieve those purposes by other means, and the applicable legal requirements.

Because the results of the surveys and other aggregated or pseudonymous data are used for research and/or statistical purposes, we and our third parties may use this information indefinitely in accordance with this Privacy Policy without notifying you.

5. Information about data, including personal data, that is automatically collected and processed in the background when you use our Web sites.
